As far as the movie goes, I’ll have to watch it again before I call it bad (my opinion often changes with time…) But other than John being too gorgeous for words, I didn’t like it much. I had such hopes - Martin Sheen + Native Americans. I was surprised how un-PC it turned out to be.

Anyway, although John has one of the smallest parts, he may very well have the most lines in the movie... Odd, stylized direction with virtually no dialog. John plays another priest - with an Irish accent (not quite as good as the one he does in Vanity Fair, but charming.) I can see why he would have been attracted to the part - on paper it had a lot of potential for what he’s good at (making a rather complicated character out of a few moments on screen.) I suppose, within the context of the production, he succeeded. I know I would have liked to have seen more... I love complicated, “flawed” men. ;-)
