I have to say, I find the topic of this movie a bit BORING. But not because it's a bad movie - I'm just really, really tired of talking about it. John isn't part of the hippie movement that is the focus of the movie - Rather, he's a priest playing the 'devils advocate' (yuk yuk) on what seems to be a movie about how wrong conservative Christian rules of the particular society/time the movie takes place in are and how much better it would be if we broke free and just LOVED. :::sigh::: John's part is really nasty (in a subtle, almost invisible kind of way.) He is an active manipulator and aggressively tries to convert the lead character throughout the movie. He's really icky (but shows some lovely self-doubt in the end.)
He's also heart-stopping gorgeous - I can't choose a favorite pic...
